Getting to the wedding

Tell us how you're getting to the wedding

6 weeks til we head to France, everything going pretty well on the organisation front (so Danusia tells me!)

One of my tasks is to get a list together of everyone's travel details. This is so we can link people together who maybe need a lift from an airport etc

So can you give me:

How are you getting to France?

Flight - date, airline, airport flying from and to, flight number

Driving - when are you aiming to arrive in the area?

How are you getting from airport to your accommodation?

Our advice is to rent a car at either Bordeaux or Bergerac - taxis seem very expensive. can you let me know if you have arranged yet. It's possible we can link people without a car with those who may have some space and are landing at similar times

How are you getting back to the airport on Sunday or Monday?

Same thing really, in reverse and with a hangover.

Regarding Friday night - we are looking into how best to organise travel to and from the restaurant. We'll come back with some ideas

Saturday - if you have a hire car, you can drive to Chateau Rigaud (parking in field outside) and leave you car overnight to be picked up on Sunday, as we'll have a 3 to 4 taxis on stand-by to drive you all home.

Merci tout les monde

Flight Update

It looks like flights are filling up quickly - well done to those who got in early - but there are still returns for under £100 to be had.

Going out to Bordeaux

On Friday both EasyJet and BA from Gatwick are around £60 one way
Remember to try to get to the area in time for the dinner on Friday night - 7pm

Coming Back

On the Sunday

The early and late EasyJet flights to Luton and Gatwick respectively are around £60 one way
BA to Gatwick is £80 one way

On the Monday for those joining the Sunday day/night post-wedding party

EasyJet from £65 - £80 depending on time and London airport
BA to Gatwick is £70

We suggest getting to the area no later than Friday 2nd Sept. We'll be sending out an accommodation list soon but our advice would be to book your flights now as we know there is another wedding in the village that same weekend, so lets make sure we get the best prices!

TRAVEL TO BORDEAUX

We're having a dinner for everyone in a local restaurant on the Friday night, so try to get to the area by mid afternoon on the Friday.
And on Sunday, we'll help soothe sore heads with a rolling BBQ from midday onwards - so aim for an evening flight home. Or better still Monday am.

Londoners

Easyjet fly from Luton & Gatwick to Bordeaux daily - currently about £85 return

Luton - 0710
Gatwick - 0920 & 1855

For those who like a free drink with their flight. BA also fly daily to Bordeaux from Gatwick
0740 & 1650

Currently around £120 return

Bristolians

There is a daily Easy Jet flight from the South West to Bordeaux. The Friday flight is 1605. Currently priced at £105 return

Of course flying isn't the only way to get to Bordeaux. We know quite a few of you are planning to drive. Great idea - means you can buy more wine to take home!

AIRPORT TRANSFERS

Once you have booked flights, please let us know. We will try to group people together and arrange for airport transfers as the local taxis at Bordeaux airport are a bit expensive. If we group together it'll save you a few Euros.

ACCOMMODATION

Whilst there is ample excellent accommodation in the immediate area, we are aiming to do the searching for you. Danusia is currently sifting through pages and pages of options and will soon share this with you directly. But if you do intend to source your own accommodation, please feel free but do let us know.

We're incredibly excited and happy you can all join us - remember to book flights and keep coming back to this site for updates

Lots of love
